We suggest you make a sub-directory for each type of data logger that you will be using , with appropriate names. IE for VHLC call the directory VHLC , for GCP-3000 call it GCP-3000. As an alternate to naming the sub-directory after the type of data logger, the sub-directory may be named after the crossing/control point/intermediate location.
Down load the data logger files into the appropriate sub-directory.

here for more details on why.

If the program you are using to do the download does not
allow an extension of DDAT , you may rename the file after downloading
it.
IE: A file called ec-4.ddat will automaticlly
start the DDAT program by double clicking it.
In order to automatically start DDAT when a logger file
is double clicked , the DDAT program must first be associated with the
DataDisplayAndAnalysisTool.exe
program.
This only needs to be done once , for each computer where DDAT has been
installed.
| 1. Double Click a logger file which has an extension
of ddat.
Windows will display a window indicating it does not know how to open files of type DDAT. |
|
| 2. The window below is only displayed for Windows XP.
Click the Select the program from a list button
|
3. Click the Browse button. A window labelled
Open
With.. will be displayed
Find the sub-directory where DataDisplayAndAnalysisTool.exe was installed. Click on Open Click on the OK button , in the sample shown below.

The DDAT program uses signatures to determine the correct type of data logger file. When a .ddat file is double clicked , the file is searched for all possible signatures , and if a signature is found , the file is plotted.
If no signature is found, the File
Open window is displayed and you may manually select the type of data
logger file.
